Christmas!

Everyone knows how much I love Christmas! This past weekend I was shopping for a baby shower gift and found the most appropriate book for the first book to buy our baby "I Love Christmas!" Reading it in line at Pottery Barn Kids, I almost started to cry because I cannot believe next Christmas I will be reading it to our baby. It is such a sweet book talking about all the wonderful things about the holiday.  If anyone is looking for a great book to buy this Christmas season, I definitely recommend it.

With Christmas being only 54 days away, I am sure there will be many more Christmas posts!

16 weeks

Yesterday, I woke up and realized I forgot to take my 15 week photo...oh well! Here is my 16 week photo! We were 16 weeks yesterday, and still feeling pretty good. I really thought by 16 weeks, I would have the pregnancy belly, but still not yet. It is starting to come, and I know it will get here soon enough, but I am ready for it.  This morning I woke up and got sick, which was the first time in over 4 weeks, but felt well afterwards. Who knows what it was! I think it was just a reminder "Don't forget you are pregnant."

I had today off, so I have been laying low. I took Kona for a walk and stopped off at one of my favorite place LGO (an awesome neighborhood grocery store) and grabbed a fabulous DECAF almond milk latte. They are the only place I know that serves almond milk :)  And my favorite MJ cookie. A parent gave me a gift card there, so I feel I will be spending it all on cookies and coffee. It is the only time I drink coffee (which I am not sure you can call coffee when it is decaf)!

Stroller Stalking

My new obsession is strollers. I had no idea there were so many options with SO many price differences. For all of you who have not had children in awhile or who have never looked into strollers, just Google strollers and you will understand the stress that expecting mothers endure before the baby comes!

Two weeks ago at a Jill's baby shower, one of her friends had a stroller she LOVES! She swears is the best stroller ever, and after much investigation I am beginning to agree. One problem. It is expensive. I have justified it in my head...it has so many sitting options for the baby; we can add an seat adapter if we have another child; it is easy to use and not too heavy!

After I decided this was "the" stroller for us, I have seen it everywhere. I had one opinion of the stroller, but I needed more. Another friend has the Uppa Baby stroller, which she loves and is very similar to "the" stroller, so I took that as another YES to the stroller,

This past weekend we were in Seattle and EVERYONE had the BOB stroller (basically a fancy jogging stroller!) I did some investigation into that and decided although everyone loves it, I don't think it is the stroller for us. I wouldn't mind a jogging stroller at some point, but right now not my focal point.

Yesterday, as I was walking Kona I saw a woman with "the" stroller. I decided I need to see if she liked it. She was in the park near our house walking in one direction, so I decided to go the other way so I could make the eye contact and ask. As she came close the first time, I did the friendly smile and a look at the stroller to make sure 100% it was "the" stroller. I knew I would see her again as we excited the park. so I decided to make my move the next time I saw her. As we neared for the second time, I pulled the headphones out of the ear and asked, "Do you like your stroller? My husband and I are thinking of buying it for our baby." She gave a nice smile, and said "No English." Of course! The total stranger I had stalked for her stroller did not speak English.

I am continuing to do research on "the" stroller, but I am almost 100% we will get it or one very similar!

14 weeks

So I am little late with the 14 week picture considering I am 15 weeks today, but we did take it in our 14 week window!

I am still not showing too much, but the bump is coming. I am feeling great now, and able to eat most food (still no dark green veggies...puke!) I am in this in between stage in the pregnancy. No major bump...no sickness. My appetite is definitely getting bigger, and I get hungry quicker.

This weekend Bill + I are starting our baby registering, so I know I will have some great stories to blog about.

The bump is definitely starting to grow, and I know it will only get bigger! I have been feeling great lately, and have hit some major food milestones...drinking milk...well its chocolate, but it is better than nothing.

Tomorrow I am telling my friends at work I am pregnant, which is huge! I have been waiting for this day for so long, and I can hardly wait to tell everyone!

Telling Friends + Family

This weekend marked the beginning of telling our friends and family. After having a great ultrasound on Friday, we felt comfortable finally telling people. We started our Saturday morning calling people, sometimes leaving messages to call back. When we left a message, I wanted to make sure it did not "tip" off we were are pregnant, but I did want to make sure they called me back soon...especially my 517 roomies (college roomates)! It was so much fun telling everyone, and hearing their excitement! Some people seemed very surprised by our news, while others responded "I knew it!" As long as we waited to tell people, it was just amazing to be able to do it.

Last night, we told our Arizona Gonzaga friends! We had a dinner party at our house that we planned a few weeks ago. All day, Bill and I were talking about how we wanted to tell them. All I knew is I wanted Bill to tell them. I have been able to tell so many people, and I wanted him to get the excitement of telling everyone.

Right before people arrived we decided, I need to be "drinking" so Bill chugged a beer, rinsed it out, and filled it up with a water/ice tea mixture. As friends began to arrive, I began to drink my "beer." After everyone settled in, we all headed outside to sit and talk. With 8 of us out there, we had many conversations going on, and I kept eying Bill wondering when he was going to tell people. Finally he had his chance! Someone was talking about due dates (all of the ladies in our group are pregnant!) and Bill asked Jill when she was due. Then Robyn. Then Kate. Then he pointed at me and said "April 12!" Everyone just started to scream "congratulations!" "I knew it!!" " So excited!!"

It was so much fun to see their responses, and to FINALLY be able to tell them!

      Jill- November 24. Robyn-January 22. Kate- February 14. Meggan- April 12.

12 weeks

We officially made it to 12 weeks on Thursday, which was awesome. As long as I thought the 8 weeks would be, I actually feel that they went fast.  On Friday, we had our Nuchal Translucency Test, which looks at Down Syndrome and Spina Bifida. We get the results next week, but the the technician said everything looks great! She said unless something is crazy with my blood the baby looks healthy. We also found out that it is 80% that we are having a GIRL!

At the appointment, they did an ultrasound and the technician said the baby has a strong heart beat of 158...that was my first clue it could be a girl. I have read that if the heartbeat is above 140 it is a girl, below is a boy. Then the technician took a better look and said that all signs in the genital area point to a girl. Hearing those words I was so excited! Every girl dreams of having daughter some day, and I was just excited to know I will get a chance! Then my immediate thought went to Bill...just as much as I have dreamed of having a daughter, he has dreamed of having a son. He is very excited the baby is healthy, and is becoming more excited at the thought of a girl. Good thing we have 28 weeks until she is due :)

Here is a picture of baby H + me in at 12 weeks...
